We desire to send anyone with an internal calling that is matched by an external calling from their community in our church to the world. As we consider Salt Network Global's vision, values, and strategies, not all partners and overseas workers' vision for their ministry will fully align with our network’s strategic global vision. While we are excited about anyone going, the partnership level will look different based on alignment with our vision.
To illustrate, imagine the firing of two guns, a shotgun and a rifle. When you fire a shotgun, the pellets in the bullet spread over a large area, affecting a target but having less impact. When you fire a rifle, the effect is more accurate and the full impact of the bullet hits one spot. Knowing that we are only one church with limited time, personnel, and resources; we will seek to identify a few university cities and focus our efforts just as a rifle hits with full impact on its target.
SALT NETWORK GLOBAL Teams
Salt Network Global university city teams are the main focus of our international missions efforts. These are teams of people from Salt Network Churches that seek to plant churches one our key global cities while placing a high value on doing it though a healthy team. These teams will help their members to be on mission and to be in sanctifying Christian community.
It is with these teams that we invest the majority of our focus, finances, and personnel. We currently have 30+ overseas workers on our Salt Network Global teams in East Asia and Southeast Asia.
Member missionaries have been fully assessed, trained, and developed just like our Salt Network Global team members. They have been faithful in the local church and have met the requirements for being sent from their Salt Network Church. The major difference is that these team members are not working on one of the Salt Network Global teams and thus do not receive as much holistic support. They have been affirmed in every way but their clear calling by the Holy Spirit, seen both by the applicant, their community, and those in leadership at Cornerstone (or their Salt Network Church), is to an area of the world that their church is not focusing on. Generous investment, care, and support is still given to our member missionaries. Cornerstone has 30+ member missionaries serving around the world.
These are faithful Cornerstone members that live and work abroad and do so with gospel intentionality. Cornerstone Global seeks to provided basic preparation and prayer for those taking jobs overseas. Marketplace Cornerstoners are encouraged to develop their own Advocate Team and Adoptive Connection Group. This relationship is driven by the Marketplace Cornerstoner. PATHWAYS & ROLES
Our Salt Network Global university city teams are currently in four cities in East Asia, in one country in Southeast Asia, and another country in Southeast Asia. On each of these teams we have staff and non-staff roles.
Staff: Overseas Residency | Staff position for 2-years on the team with a focus of vocation on language learning and full-time ministry. The Staff roles are those who are able to devote the majority of their vocation towards the work of evangelism, discipleship, and leading out in the church. These potential team members should have an internal leading and external affirmation from church leadership to be an equipper of the saints (Eph 4:12). This would be similar to the role of church staff in America. Funding for this level would come mainly through support raising and some from your Salt Network church. Non-Staff: Job-Taker | Team member with a vocational in the marketplace. We currently have many opportunities for teachers in each of our six cities and are looking to increase opportunities in various marketplaces around the country. The Job-Taker roles are a non-staff role for those that are interested in being a part of the work, being a part of the team, but doing much of their personal ministry through their vocation and place of work. Their funding will come partially through initial support, but mostly through being supported through work. This is a great opportunity for those who would like to continue to use their vocation they have been trained in. It is not, however, a route for those simply trying to get out of support raising!
